Inspired by a similar national event, the aim of Nebraska Wildflower Week is to increase awareness and appreciation of wildflowers and native plants in the landscape through an array of events and activities across Nebraska. Nebraska Wildflower Week was established by governor's proclamation in 2006.
Nebraska Wildflower Week will be observed in early June when Nebraska's prairies and gardens are typically at their prime. The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum (NSA) serves as coordinator and clearing house for information for Nebraska Wildflower Week.
The parking garden and other native areas at Lauritzen Gardens are wonderful places to visit during Nebraska Wildflower Week.
