Summer Horticulture, Visitor Services and Education internships offered 

 

Lauritzen Gardens is a young and growing public garden located on a 100-acre site overlooking the Missouri River Valley. Internships at Lauritzen Gardens offer exciting opportunities for students to be closely involved with the challenges and rewards of working in a growing organization with a fast-paced atmosphere. All internships are paid and students may also receive academic credit through their institutions. Housing may be available at a discounted rate for a limited number of interns. 

 

HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIPS 
Four positions available

Apply by March 16, 2018         

Horticulture internships are available to current college students and individuals who have graduated within the last year. A sophomore level or higher standing is recommended. 
Horticulture interns will work directly with the garden's horticulture staff to gain practical work experience in all aspects of horticultural maintenance. Interns will spend time working in several different outdoor gardens, the indoor floral display, greenhouse production, plant records and turf management. 

Duration: 3 to 4 months, starting in May

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIP  

Six positions available        
Apply by March 16, 2018         

The education intern will assist with educational programming at the garden including school tours, youth enrichment programs, day camps, adult tours, festivals, special events and garden interpretation. Interns must possess enthusiasm, flexibility, love of the outdoors and the capacity to work with a wide range of people. 
 

Duration: 3 to 4 months, late-May through early August

VISITOR SERVICES/MARKETING DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIP  
One position available

Apply by March 16, 2018

Most work will occur weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with some weeknight and weekend hours involved. This position provides an opportunity to see how non-profit events work through engaged involvement with professional staff members on the visitor services and occasionally, the marketing team. The intern will work in the areas of event planning and wrap-up, public relations, marketing, social media, research, sales and/or tourism. 

Duration: 3 to 4 months, starting in May
