Summer Horticulture, Marketing and Education Internships Offered 

  

Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha's Botanical Center, is a young and growing public garden located on a 100-acre site overlooking the Missouri River Valley. Internships at Lauritzen Gardens offer exciting opportunities for students to be closely involved with the challenges and rewards of working in a growing organization with a fast-paced atmosphere.

 

HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIPS 
Four Positions Available

Apply by April 13, 2012

Horticulture internships are available to current college students and individuals who have graduated within the last year. A sophomore level or higher standing is recommended. Students may receive academic credit through their institutions.

 

The horticulture intern will work directly with the garden's horticulture staff to gain practical work experience in all aspects of horticultural maintenance. Interns will spend time working in several different outdoor gardens, the indoor floral display, greenhouse production, plant records and turf management. 

Duration: 3 to 4 months, starting in May

MARKETING AND EVENTS  INTERNSHIP
One Position Available

Apply by April 13, 2012 
 
The marketing intern will assist the marketing department with a variety of advertising, marketing, public relations, promotions and event-planning projects. This is a summer-long, 640-hour internship. Monday through Friday and some weekends and evenings.


Duration: 3 to 4 months, starting in May
Compensation: $8.00 per hour

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIP 
One Position Available
Apply by April 13, 2012 

The education intern will assist with educational programming at the garden including school tours, youth enrichment programs, day camps, adult tours, festivals, special events and garden interpretation. Interns must possess enthusiasm, flexibility, love of the outdoors and the capacity to work with a wide range of people. 

Duration: 3 to 4 months, starting in May
